STARBUCKS and CEO HOWARD SCHULTS

By Frank Georgalis

Heads of over 100 major companies have joined Starbucks Corp. CEO Howard Schultz in a pledge to boycott political donations until Congress and the president agree on a long-term debt and deficit plan, Schultz announced in a letter Wednesday.

All the Money Changers from 100 business big firms signed resembling old Israel the Sadducees and the Pharisees signed  on to Schultz’ initiative, including Myron Ullman of JC Penney, Duncan Niederauer of NYSE, and Walter Robb, co-chief executive of Whole Foods, Tim Armstrong of AOL, Mickey Drexler of J. Crew Group, and billionaire investor Pete Peterson.

I will now ask the big question: Who is going to boycott Starbucks store in Asia and other Third World Countries for selling 10 oz cup of coffee for $2.10 while he is paying his employees 90 cents per hour and they must work 80 hours a week? You want to hear the best yet? No water with the coffee. If anyone wishes water he will be served a 12 bottle and will be charge $2.10 the same water one can buy at the 7/11 for 15 cents. I am not trying to say that the politicians don’t deserve what Schultz is proposing, they deserve to be shot at and missed and crapped on and hit, I am just stating that the pot called the kettle black. It is well known fact that thieves stick together, particularly big CEOs and politicians; Schultz must be having something else in mind. We will find out. I must confess to my readers that in the process of my writing I tend to think. I told you that Schultz must be having something else in mind. First I asked myself a question: does Schultz think that the congress will let the country close up?  No! Of course not. He is a donkey. Donkey is one of the most oblivious animals on earth, their only mission is food and they will go over fancies to get there. One can yell at the donkey and he will not respond. There is an old German proverb “You send the donkey with corn to the mill, he will bring back thistles.”

McDonald’s, Burger King, Dairy Queen, KFC, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, Mister Donut and others who found a home in the Third World countries are charging more than they do in America and they all pay their employees 90 cents per hour for 80 hours per week with no overtime. In fact in America, one can get a cheeseburger from most of the fast food establishments for 99 cents, in the Asian countries the same cheeseburger is $2.10. They don’t only exploit the poor people but they also rob the tourists, and they have the guts to criticize others.

An organized movement by the tourists to boycott the companies I mentioned above should take place Teams of informers should station themselves at the entrance of all the major airports handing out leaflets, urging the tourist not to patronize the companies that are making huge amounts of money by exploiting the employees and robbing the visitors

“Remarkably,  Schultz’s  initiative triggered a national dialogue and a groundswell of support,” Schultz wrote, adding that in the 10 days since releasing his pledge, he “heard directly from thousands of concerned citizens and was astounded by the volume of support we received through calls, emails, social media exchanges and various other public votes of confidence.” It doesn’t surprise me one bit. Citizens are like sheep. They hold their head down close to their grass and they only raise their head when they hear a noise, but they go back to their feeding and do nothing about it. The ones who try to do something about it are called “The Black Sheep”

I am now wondering what will be Schultz’s comment when he is notified of the boycott and learns the falling of business by at least 30%. Do these CEOs think that the politicians are lame ducks? They should examine their own condition; if a boycott takes place; they are sitting ducks with a million hunters waiting to fall all over them like maple syrup on pancakes to pluck them. And grind them. If one reads between the lines of my writings will realize that my aim is not o9n coffee it is on the design of the American big companies to reduce the number of layers within the corporate structure by leaving fewer middle- management jobs they are out to win big without caring who loses. They are using the Third World Countries economic system; cheap labor with no complains.

The economic downturn exacerbated forces that have long been undermining men in the workplace, says Lawrence Katz, a Harvard professor of labor economics. Corporations have cut costs by moving manufacturing jobs, routine computer programming, and even simple legal work out of the country. The production jobs that remain are increasingly mechanized and demand higher skills.

You see, I don’t care about the price of coffee or the cheeseburger, I am trying to point out to the American people that the corporations are following Starbuck’s and other fast food operations system and plan to manufacture items for a fraction of the labor costs and sell it for the same price in America and abroad.  .

I suggested for the people, the tourists and the permanent residents of Asia to begin hitting the most venerable outlets, the fast food operations that are thriving. It doesn’t take a town of people with torches to start a fire; one torch will do it if other will follow. Please understand I am not speaking of real burning fire I am talking about building heat under the asses of the CEO that is why I called them Sitting Ducks.

Coca Cola is about to invest 5 billion dollars to build a plant in China. Let us understand, if every Chinese man woman and child could drink a bottle of Coca Cola a day it will take the company 117 years to recoup their investment, but they will manufacture other item Syrups and flavors, and operating vending machines with cheap labor and sell to us at high price. Do you know what I billion dollars looks like? I will tell you. If you turn one billion dollars into single dollar bills and stack it one top of the other the stack will reach one mile high.

Schultz, who is living secured in a democratic county, is worse than the biggest autocrats of the world. To top it all, the Fortune magazine cited in naming Schultz its “Businessperson of the Year” last week. for being the owner of the STARBUCKS COFFE Shops. And they named him business man of the year? Idiocy at its finest.
