The Somali Militants: al- Shabab (Article I)

 

American Born Islamist

More commonly known as al-Shabab in Arabic means  “The Youth” or “The Lads”) is an Islamist insurgent group fighting to overthrow the government of Somalia. As of summer 2010, the group is said to control most of the southern and central parts of Somalia, including “a large swath” of the capital, Mogadishu, where it is said to have imposed its own “harsh” form of Shana law. Estimates of al-Shabab’s strength, as of December 2008, vary between 3,000 to 7,000.

The group is an off-shoot of the Islamic Courts Union which was disassembled from power by Ethiopian forces in 2006. The group describes itself as waging Jihad against “enemies of Islam” and is engaged in combat against the Somali Government and African Union Mission of Somalia that is backing the local and federal government. It has reportedly “declared war on the UN and on Western non-governmental organizations” that distribute food aid in Somalia, killing 42 relief workers in 2008 and 2009. It has been designated a “terrorist” organization by several western governments and security services, and described as having “ties to Al-Qaeda which their leaders denied until early 2010.

The organization’s current leader is Ibrahim, also known as “al-Afghani”. He is the leader since 2010 and he is the 4^th one since it was established in 2006. His predecessors have died, hung or eaten by the sharks. The way it looks, if I were he, I would not buy green bananas.

The militant group al-Shabab said the man who carried out a suicide bomb attack on a base in Mogadishu this week was a Somali-American, and a another Shabab official added with pride Thursday that separate clashes with militants in Somalia’s capital left at least 17 Islamic civilians dead. The question that comes into my head is; why are they using the word Jihad if they are killing Muslims?

Al-Shabab published on its website Thursday that the suicide bomber was a 25-year-old man named Abdullah Ahmed attacked an African Union peacekeeping base in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, on Monday, killing two AU troops and one government soldier. Ahmed was said to have moved to Somalia from Minnesota two years ago.

The Internet report purported to quote Ahmed before his death saying that he wanted to carry out the attack because of abuses by Christians of Muslim countries, but most of the ones he killed were not Christians. In my opinion he shot at the crows but he killed the pigeons. He was evidently brain washed by somebody who knew how to put “crap” into poor man’s  mind, but he  didn’t know the difference between Christians and none-Christians. It is also reported that he was at least the third Somali-American to have carried out suicide bombing in Somalia. Propaganda is one of the tools used to brain wash young people who have been deprived from love and parental understanding and are looking for recognition. The other wide spread propaganda is the anti-American hate which created by ignorance and opportunists and the third is the propaganda created by African Americans who are looking to benefit of animosity between blacks and whites. Upon Obama’s election to the presidency, the Europeans were delighted seeing the downfall of white Americans and the victory for blacks in America based on anti_American propaganda created by the African Americans in the USA, who stand to make it big in money and glory. They are the opposite of Martin Luther king’s dream for all Americans to live peacefully, if that happens Louis Farrakan, Al Sharpton, jeffries, Jessie Jackson and many others,  they h ave  no job. The Muslim population is very small in America, but 35% are African-Americans who converted from Christianity to Islam, not for religious beliefs, but to fight the Whites and put pride in blacks.

This is the propaganda that brings Americans to Somalia and other places like Somalia to be trained and eventually brain washed into killing themselves.

The home land security department has confirmed that there have been cases of Somali-Americans who have been recruited to fight in Somalia, but declined to comment on whether that particular trend was accelerating.

If the report is confirmed, Ahmed would become at least the third Somali-American to have carried out a suicide bombing in Somalia.                                           In Washington, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said the report was consistent with a growth in cases of Americans who have become radicalized to commit such acts of violence. These young men, who are mostly Somalia-Americans, have been recruited by Somali Islamic insurgents — some of whom have links to al-Qaida — have been recruiting young Somali men in America and other countries hoping they could be insurgents to be used to attack foreign targets.

 

The first known American suicide bomber in Somalia was Shirwa Ahmed from Minneapolis. He blew himself up in October 2008 in the northern breakaway republic of Somaliland as part of a series of coordinated explosions that killed 21 people.

There is a legitimate fear that some of these young men seek and found a training camp at al-Sabat5h in Somalia and are now trained as fighters and suicide bombers to return to America to carry out series of attacks.

At least 20 Somali-Americans are believed to have joined al-Shabab. U.S. authorities have warned that a Somali-American who seeks training from al-Shabab could return to the United States to carry out an attack.

Most of the American Somalis who come back to Somalia for training are from Minnesota and Seattle Washington

Somali troops backed by African Union peacekeepers on Thursday continued to attempt to oust militants from Mogadishu’s main Bakara market.

Mogadishu ambulance Chief Ali Muse said medical officials collected 17 dead bodies and 40 people who were wounded in mortar exchanges between the two sides.
