Self Motivation/Positive Thinking—4 Easy Steps to Restructure Your Life: Part IV

how to restructure your thinking

Getting ready for battle

Preparation for Restructuring

By Frank Elias Georgalis

In my last article I mentioned that our lives do depend on other people’s actions and reactions. The people that I am referring to, are people who enter our lives, sometimes uninvited and many times we find them and we bring them in. That requires the restructuring of our lives. Restructuring your life, should not mean for you to struggle to become rich and famous but to set your life in an even keel. living more or less to improve your life and to become a better person. Follow one of my sayings “The moment you stop trying to be better you are no longer good” Why trying to be better, are you bad? You may not be bad, all bad anyway, as you know you are not all good. I don’t know how good or how bad you are; you don’t even know that. By starting to think you will soon realize that there are degrees of being bad and there are degrees of being good, therefore your job as a person who lives with the invited and the uninvited guests in our society, is to try to find out the bad things about you and to find out the good things about you. In this topic I will show you a way of finding out the good and the bad about yourself. Then as a thinking person you should began to chop away some of the bad things and adding to the good. That, as I have mentioned before in my previous articles is called self appraisal.  Like any other appraisal, the self appraisal is based on five main, for lack of better word, foundations. One should appraise himself, Socially, Physically, Spiritually, Economically and Intellectually. These bases, as you will find out later, are related with each other to a great extend. You cannot have one without the others. You cannot fix something unless you know what is wrong with it. In my next article I will give you a detail formula for you to find out what is wrong and how to remedy the wrong and come as close to being right as you wish. I have helped many people all though my life by teacjnf  positive thinking and motivation.

I am not speaking about some second hand philosophical quotations, quoted by some modern day sophisticates. The word sophisticates, incidentally is not a verb it’s not an adjective it is a noun, it is the title the ones who wished to be philosophers but they couldn’t cut the mustard. I am not going to sit here and write to impress you and I am not going to speak to you like Dutch uncle. I am a Dutch and I am not your uncle tell you that I am a philosopher. Even Socrates didn’t like being a philosopher. He said that if a man is married to good woman, he stays home and makes her happy: if not he becomes a philosopher. Evidently, his wife was a nagger. Even Shakespeare wrote about her. “The Taming of the Shrewd”. A movie was made, starring Elizabeth Taylor. She was miscast:  Jane Fonda would have gained my vote.

what is the purpose oflife and meaning for the sorroful mysteries

There are many mysteries in our lives and many who are occupied with the finding the truth behind mysteries, have discovered and disclosed that the structuring or restructuring your life is not a mystery. Stepping forward and getting a hold of yourself to restructure your life is not a mystery. Reading my articles, you will soon realize that, restructuring doesn’t mean altering yourself.

Up till now you have probably learned that restructuring your life is by finding out what you really are.

I get a lot of comments daily and I take the time to read them all, because most of them say many good things about my writings, which is good for my “Ego” and are giving me hints of what is helpful and enjoyable to my readers. Once in a while I do get some weird ones and some challenging. The following comment is not one of the weird ones; it is one of the challenging. A gentleman wanted to know how many PhDs I have in my possession to acquire the right to tell him what to do and he should listen to me. My response to him was that whatever I write comes from my thinking combined with my life’s experiences and some studies they I nave made. I told him that I was happy he entered into my world, I didn’t compelled him to listen to me and if he thought that one who is in a possession of PhD was given the exclusive right to compel people to listen to him and if he thought so he thought wrong. There are many people who have accomplished many great things in life but never went to school far enough to obtain a PhD. If you are desirous in constructing and restructuring your life, you do not have to have an extensive education, what you really have to have is the”Will”. Albert Einstein, in his book “The People Yes” said you can do anything you want to do, but not the way you want to do it, Dick Gregory, the black comedian confirmed it by saying “Every body wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die”.  Reconstructing your life is an everyday task. You should know that life is a lesson that you must learn every day. Life is just an employer, you get what you ask for. You bargain with life for a penny and life will give you no more.

What I just stated is not a part of philosophy. I am not selling you any philosophy, I am passing on to you what I have learned by studying and listening and thinking. I hunt and fish for the facts of life, then I cook them and I am bringing them to you on silver platter. The truth is I have learned some of the known and none of the unknown. I have learned that a part of us dies every day and a part us is born everyday. We are not what we were we change. We don’t know the change come in body or in mind. researching and studying I have learned that the changes in body come as flesh and bones and the changes in out mind come in thoughts. It takes a little effort to care for the changes in our body but it takes more effort to care the changes in our mind. some of the changes in our body appear in the form of muscles. To care for them and make them stronger, we exercise. The changes in our mind tend to land in our brain. It ha been discovered that the brain is also a muscle, therefore it can be taken care and improved through exercise. The improvement in our body results in good health. The improvement in our minds results in good habits. Bear in mind that it’s easier to create new good habits than to kick out the old bad habits. But it is known that most of the time a good habit will kick out the bad habit.  I have said this before, but I am going to tell you again, in an effort to restructure your life, does not mean that you have to change the world around you.

Speaking of habits, please understand, that there is not one bad habit in the world that cannot be kicked, and there is not one good habit in the world that cannot be had. Please, also understand, that we were born with habits. Most of the habits we were born with, are good but over indulging on them become bad. n my younger days, I was involved  in owning some properties in New Jersey. Most of the properties I owned were income properties, that only means I was depending on the rentals. If a tenant did not pay the rent by a certain time of the month I would file a complain with the court on none payment of the rent, A man name Jones was my tenant and he was in the habit of always being late with his rent, so I took him to court. The constable read the complain loudly. Mr. Jones heard the complain and stood in front of the Judge in a perfect military attention.                                                                                                                                                                                                               “Mr. Jones you heard the complain and I assume you understand it. I am not going to ask you whether you guilty or not guilty, because this is not a criminal court this a civil court, ” said Judge Marzulli, who always used a good sense of humor, something rare with judges believing that they are the monarchs of the court. “Have you paid the rent?”                                                                                                                                      ”Your honor,” began Mr. Jones, “I have a confession to make.”                                                                                                                                                              ”Wait a moment,” said the judge, moving his body forward. “First stand at ease, I am a judge not a general. I must put you on notice, if your confession has something to do with breaking the law, I must have you  arrested. Otherwise your confession is not going to be kept a secret, because I am a judge not a priest.”                                                                                                                                                                                                         “Your Honor, I have one bad habit, I like to eat a lot. I am a meat eater.”

“Mr. Jones, eating is not a bad habit, over eating becomes a bad habit and eating meat is not a bad habit, Jesus liked lamb, roast lamb, according to some historians. Mr. Jones, I will give an advise and the means of kicking the bad habit. I, being a judge, give advise where it’s needed. My advise to you is not take it or leave it, it’s a compelling advise. You will take my advise and if you don’t you will be in contempt of court. I will send you to consoling. It will cost you nothing.”

Mr Jones reconstructed his life. he took the judge’s advise seriously, lost the bad habit, paid the rent on time and gained some well deserve respect. Now we come to believe that we are creatures of habit.
